Abstract

The John Bunch Audio Recordings include audio recordings of Bunch’s performances and sessions from 1937 to 2009 with musicians such as, Benny Goodman, Woody Herman, Urbie Green, and many others. Also included are audio recordings of radio interviews, and an appearance on NBC’s Today Show in 1961. The collection documents John Bunch’s musical career.

The John Bunch Papers includes original compositions by John Bunch, images that he took of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Benny Goodman, and other musicians, at clubs and during his world tours, and materials, such as his White House invitation, a full color poster advertising Tony Bennett at the London Palladium, newspaper and magazine interviews, and John’s own articles and published letters.

March 23, 1985) began his professional music career at a young age playing drums and clarinet in a group with three of his five brothers: Bob on trumpet; Gene on guitar; and Ray, who later became a well-known trombonist, on tuba.
