The Historic East Stroudsburg University Postcard Collection consists of 100 postcards from the university and its former iterations. They are separated into 3 Series: Buildings, Aerial Views, and Statues.

Series I: Buildings (1893-1983) include postcards of buildings from three of the university’s previous schools. They are subdivided into State Normal School, East Stroudsburg State Teachers College, and East Stroudsburg State College. The postcards are then arranged in chronological order of the buildings's opening.

Series II. Aerial Views (1928-1945) includes three postcards showing aerial images of State Normal School (used), the Viaduct on Lackawanna Trail (unused), and East Stroudsburg University (unused).

Series III. Statues (undated) includes one postcard of the “Julia” War Memorial issued from the State Normal School.

Creation: 1927 - 1960

Biographical / Historical

Oakes Hall was completed in 1902 and demolished in 1979. It was a 3-story classroom building that stood across from the present Rosenkrans buildings. Formally called the Recitation Hall during Normal School days.
