Scope and Contents
The Historic East Stroudsburg University Postcard Collection consists of 100 postcards from the university and its former iterations. They are separated into 3 Series: Buildings, Aerial Views, and Statues.
Series I: Buildings (1893-1983) include postcards of buildings from three of the university’s previous schools. They are subdivided into State Normal School, East Stroudsburg State Teachers College, and East Stroudsburg State College. The postcards are then arranged in chronological order of the buildings's opening.
Series II. Aerial Views (1928-1945) includes three postcards showing aerial images of State Normal School (used), the Viaduct on Lackawanna Trail (unused), and East Stroudsburg University (unused).
Series III. Statues (undated) includes one postcard of the “Julia” War Memorial issued from the State Normal School.

Biographical / Historical
Original cornerstone was laid on July 4, 1892, however it was not named until 1921. Before that, it was referred to as the Main Building during the Normal School days. Over the years, the multipurpose building had a post office, cafeteria, classrooms, library, offices, and dormitories. In 1967 it was demolished and replaced by the New Stroud building.
